Corner Two ยท The Pour & The Workbench

Cocktail Craft

Syrups, citrus, and ceremony โ€” but craft is bigger than the pour. Everything in this harbor is made by somebody's hands: the drinks, the music, the idols, the boats. Cocktail Craft is the corner for the makers.

Here is the bandstand where the steel guitar slides at golden hour, the carver's bench where the harbor's gods are born laughing, the river launch that runs on puns and brass bells, and the salvage yards and neon inns where resourceful people make do beautifully. A steady hand, the right tool, and a tall story โ€” that's the whole recipe.

The Bandstand & The Carver's Bench โ€” original Tiki Harbor artwork

The Bandstand & The Carver's Bench

A lap steel guitar and a vintage radio microphone wait out the break while, across the room, the master carver's latest idol dries among the shavings โ€” finished tikis line the wall, every one of them laughing. Original harbor artwork, in the house style.

Stories from the Craft

Hawaiian Steel Guitar Club

A 1940s Waikiki-style nightclub inside the harbor: floral rayon, gardenias, poke on rice crackers and Mai Tais, coconut-shell maracas keeping time. The bandleader guards his solos jealously, and the night the singer kept upstaging him, her flip-flops were found tossed in his open guitar case โ€” a critic's review, delivered without a word.

Jungle River Launch

The harbor's own jungle cruise: a striped-canopy launch, a polished brass ship's bell, banana fritters and Jungle Birds for the passengers. The skipper's puns are only the second most dangerous thing on the river โ€” mind the fake hippo surfacing at the bend, which has allegedly swallowed more than one flip-flop, and the skipper insists the ticklish part is simply part of the tour.

Tiki Carver's Workshop

Sawdust, sunbeams, and tikis in every stage of becoming. The master carver is working on a laughing idol and insists on live reference, so the sitting runs on spam musubi and cold-brew rum punch while the model's flip-flops wait on the bench as a carving study. Finished gods line the walls, grinning approval.

Castaway Shipwreck

Salvage craft at its finest: a bamboo hut built from a wrecked hull, a message in a bottle, grilled fish on sticks and rum from a salvaged cask. The island's self-declared governor rations everything โ€” including footwear โ€” and collects the island tax the island way, at the upturned-rowboat table, by lantern light.

Tiki Motel

The harbor's A-frame motor inn, a monument to roadside craft: neon VACANCY sign buzzing over the pool, diamond-shaped key fobs, pineapple cheeseburgers and Blue Hawaiians. Check out on time โ€” the manager in the loud aloha shirt holds late guests' flip-flops at the front desk and collects the late fee poolside, with a feather duster, very officially.
